You do not have to wait until the end of your CFA journey to begin engaging with CFA Society Toronto. Associate Membership gives eligible Candidates and emerging professionals an earlier entry point into our community, with access to practical support, meaningful connections, and programming designed to help you grow academically, professionally, and personally.

For many aspiring investment professionals, the CFA journey can feel solitary. Associate Membership is designed to make that journey more connected. It brings together professional community, Candidate-focused support, and opportunities to engage with people who have recently been in your shoes and can offer practical, relevant guidance. That is what makes Associate Membership more than just a membership category. It is a structured on-ramp into the Society.

Candidate Mentor Program

Associate Members will have access to a Candidate Mentor Program specifically geared for Candidates. Launching in 2027 and designed as four-month long mentorships, this program connects Associate Members with CFA charterholder mentors, including past protégés of the Professional Mentor Program and Candidate Relations Committee members, for practical guidance and support during the CFA journey and early stages of career development

Candidates Connect

Candidates Connect is a community-focused event series designed to help CFA Program candidates feel less isolated in their exam journey and gain support through direct access to recent CFA charterholders who have recently completed the program. These events combine practical discussion with more candid, small-group interaction, giving Candidates the opportunity to ask real questions and learn from people who understand the demands of the journey firsthand.

Ask-Me-Anything (AMA) Events

Associate Members will have access to Candidate-focused AMA events in both webinar and in-person formats. These sessions are designed to connect Candidates with recent CFA charterholders who can share practical, experience-based guidance on topics such as study strategy, time management, motivation, setbacks, and early-career lessons. Most AMA events will be exclusive to Associate Members, while select sessions may be offered on an open-access basis to introduce Candidates to the Society and the value of membership.

Candidate Bursary Program

Launching in 2027, the Candidate Bursary Program is intended to provide financial support for exam-related costs to CFA Candidates in financial need. Designed to help reduce financial barriers for Candidates in financial need, this program is a CFA Society Toronto-funded source of support separate from CFA Institute’s scholarship program and is expected to recognize both merit and demonstrated financial need.

The Analyst Subscription

Associate Members will receive a complimentary subscription to The Analyst, CFA Society Toronto’s quarterly flagship publication. This benefit gives members access to thought leadership, industry perspectives, and timely content that can help them broaden their understanding of investment and financial services topics while staying connected to the Society and its community.

Ongoing Community & Engagement Opportunities

Associate Membership is also intended to connect members more closely to the broader Society through opportunities such as member communications, event-based engagement, special programming, and other Candidate-focused touchpoints that reinforce belonging and continued participation. These ongoing engagement opportunities help you stay involved and connected to the CFA Society Toronto community over time.

Associate Membership is intended for rising talent and emerging investment professionals. To be eligible for Associate Membership, applicants must be a current or past participant in a CFA Institute educational product, including the CFA Program. It is designed for people who want to build stronger connection to the profession and to CFA Society Toronto while they are still developing their careers.

CFA Institute and CFA Society Toronto will each have an Associate Membership class. You do not need to be an Associate Member of CFA Institute in order to become an Associate Member of CFA Society Toronto. Eligible individuals may choose to join one, the other, or both, depending on the kind of membership experience they want. CFA Society Toronto Associate Membership is designed to provide the local, community-based component of that experience. Associate Membership is grounded in the ethical and professional standards associated with the CFA community. The class is governed by ethics and conduct expectations that include completion of the ethics requirement or applicable exemption, compliance with the Code and Standards, annual professional conduct attestation, and oversight by CFA Institute Professional Conduct.
