CFA Society Toronto Announces Finalists for 2019 Annual Financial Journalism Awards

The Financial Journalism Awards recognizes the contributions of Canadian based publications and journalists in helping consumers and advisors gain a better understanding of the investment profession. There are three award categories and they are Publication of the Year, Journalist of the Year, and the Spirit of the Future of Finance.

The winners for each award category will be announced at the awards reception on 11 April 2019. The event will also see the premiere of the Society’s 2019 Media Contact Directory, a valuable resource for media looking for expert commentary on a number of financial subject matters. The finalists for each award category are:

Finalists for the Publication of the Year are:

  • Advisor’s Edge
  • Benefits Canada
  • MoneySense

Finalists for the Journalist of the Year are:

  • Bryan Borzykowski, MoneySense  
  • Kristine Owram, Bloomberg
  • Michelle Schriver, Advisor’s Edge

Finalists for The Spirit of the Future of Finance Award are:

  • Are advisors liable for losses from market downturns by Michelle Schriver, Advisor’s Edge
  • Canada is missing out on the global oil recovery by Kevin Orland and Robert Tuttle, Bloomberg

The directory consists of members who have had their CFA charter for more than five years and have areas of expertise that they are willing to share by accepting phone calls or taking part in media interviews.
