CFA Society Toronto Announces Election of New Board Members

Toronto, June 30, 2016 - CFA Society Toronto is pleased to announce Dan Lavallee, CFA has been appointed Board Chair following Tuesday’s election meeting.  In addition, we are pleased to announce Pamela Steer, CPA, CA, CFA as Vice Chair.  CFA Society Toronto also welcomes two new members to the Board of Directors: Secretary Treasurer – Brenda King, CPA-CA, CFA, and Programming Vice Chair – Amy Stephenson, MBA, CPA, CMA, CFA.

CFA Society Toronto expresses our gratitude to our departing board member, Chris Polson, CPA, CMA, CBV, CFA.  Mr. Polson has completed his three year term on the Board of Directors, where he served as Board Chair from July 2014 to June 2015.

Brenda King, CPA-CA, CFA – Secretary-Treasurer

Brenda King has been the Treasurer at the Hospital for Sick Children for over fifteen years and is responsible for the treasury management, investments, banking relations, pension plan administration, and financial reporting.  Prior experience includes two years at a Real Estate Investment Management firm, seven years at McGill University, Department of Pension Management and five years at Deloitte & Touche as Audit Manager. Ms. King holds a Graduate Degree in Public Accountancy from McGill University and Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University. Ms. King is a member of the Audit Committee, past Secretary-Treasurer and past Chair of the Finance Committee at CFA Society Toronto.

Amy Stephenson, MBA, CPA, CMA, CFA – Programming, Vice Chair

Amy Stephenson has over 20 years’ experience in the capital markets and managing public companies by providing strategic advice, finance and compliance services to public companies.  She is the CFO for Branson Corporate Services. Prior to this, Ms. Stephenson was CFO at Bedrocan Canada Inc. and Ceres Global Ag Corp. She was a business valuator at Evans & Evans and an equity research writer. She was non-member Council and Chair of the Audit Committee for the Association of Professional GeoScientists Ontario for 6 years and past Chair of the Continuing Education Committee.  Amy was lecturer at the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts (now CFA Society Toronto) lecture series for 10 years.  She is a CFA charterholder, a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA) and a member of the Financial Executive International (FEI).
