Pamela Steer, FCPA, FCA, CFA is the Chief Financial Officer and Head of Finance and Employer Services at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). Pamela is also Treasurer of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors and sits on the Advisory Board of the University of Waterloo’s School of Accounting and Finance. Pamela was recently appointed to the Global Advisory Council for the Accounting for Sustainability Project under The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation.

Vadim Gracie, FCSI, CFA

Vice Chair

Vadim Gracie, FCSI, CFA is Vice President, Investment Risk Management at OMERS.  Previously he was a Principal in Risk Management and Principal in Asset Mix and Capital Markets Research at OMERS Capital Markets.  Before joining OMERS in 2007 he was a senior manager at Scotiabank.  Vadim has over 20 years of experience in the financial industry.  Vadim became Vice Chair of the Society's Derivatives & Risk Management Committee in 2011 and Chair of the Risk Management and Alternative Investments Committee in 2013. He is also a past volunteer on the Membership Committee. Vadim attained his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2002 and became a Fellow of Canadian Securities Institute in 2007.
Brenda King

Brenda King, CPA, CA, CFA


Brenda King, CPA, CA, CFA has been the Treasurer at the Hospital for Sick Children for over fifteen years and is responsible for the treasury management, investments, banking relations, pension plan administration, and financial reporting.  Prior experience includes two years at a Real Estate Investment Management firm, seven years at McGill University, Department of Pension Management and five years at Deloitte & Touche as Audit Manager. Ms. King holds a Graduate Degree in Public Accountancy from McGill University and Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University. Ms. King is a member of the Audit Committee, past Secretary-Treasurer and past Chair of the Finance Committee at the Society.

Dan C. Lavallee, CFA

Past Chair

Dan Lavallee, CFA is a Senior Portfolio Manager and Director of Public Equities at the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP). Dan has 17 years of capital markets experience, including roles in corporate finance, and has also published research on Canadian public companies. He holds a BA (Honours) in political science from the University of Western Ontario and has been a CFA charterholder since 2000. He joined the Society’s board in 2012.

Steve Balaban, CFA

Chair, Outreach

Steve Balaban, CFA, is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Mink Capital, a private equity solution for family offices.  Mr. Balaban is an adjunct professor at the University of Waterloo where he created a course titled Private Equity and Venture Capital. In addition, he teaches at Wilfrid Laurier University, in the MBA/MFin program, where he lectures on Investment Management and Advanced Corporate Finance. 

Mr. Balaban received a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, graduating on the Dean’s list, and received an Honours, Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. Mr. Balaban has extensive international experience having worked, studied and visited over seventy countries in every continent in the world.

Mr. Balaban was senior adviser to the 2016 Research Challenge Global Award winners and currently serves on the Society’s Mentorship and University Relations Committees.

Jennifer Schillaci, CFA

Chair, Member Services

Jennifer Schillaci, CFA is a Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager at Manulife Real Estate. She is responsible for the ongoing investment strategy and portfolio management, including acquisitions, dispositions and financing, of both the Manulife Canadian Property Portfolio and the Manulife Canadian Real Estate Investment Fund.

Previously, Ms. Schillaci was an Investment Director with Manulife Real Estate, the global real estate investment and management arm of Manulife, where she was responsible for the successful execution of acquisition targets, as well as the disposition of non-core assets and the monitoring and analysis of the company’s real estate investment performance. Prior to this role, she held various investment positions across several asset classes within in both Toronto and Boston. Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Toronto where she earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) degree and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Ms. Schillaci is a past chair of the Society’s Membership Committee.

Marcus Turner, CFA

Chair, Programming

Marcus Turner, CFA is the Director and Senior Investment Consultant at Willis Towers Watson.  He consults on a wide variety of issues including implemented OCIO solutions, asset allocation strategy, and investment structure optimization.  He has worked with a variety of clients including Pension Plans, Foundations and Municipalities with assets ranging from $100 million to over $5 billion.  Marcus specializes in alternative asset class research and has expertise in assessing currency, infrastructure and private equity managers as well as trends and developments in these asset opportunities.  Marcus has a BA in economics and actuarial science from the University of Toronto, is a member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals and a CFA charterholder.  Marcus provides frequent industry commentary on issues such as infrastructure in pension portfolios and managing extreme risks in a portfolio.


Amy Stephenson, MBA, CPA, CMA, CFA

Amy Stephenson, MBA, CPA, CMA, CFA has over 20 years’ experience in the capital markets and managing public companies by providing strategic advice, finance and compliance services to public companies.  She is the CFO for Branson Corporate Services. Prior to this, Ms. Stephenson was CFO at Bedrocan Canada Inc. and Ceres Global Ag Corp. She was a business valuator at Evans & Evans and an equity research writer. She was non-member Council and Chair of the Audit Committee for the Association of Professional GeoScientists Ontario for six years and past Chair of the Continuing Education Committee.  Amy was lecturer at the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts (now CFA Society Toronto) lecture series for 10 years.  She is a CFA charterholder, a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA) and a member of the Financial Executive International (FEI).  


Alain Bergeron, M.Sc., CFA

Alain Bergeron, M.Sc.,CFA is the Senior Vice President, Investment Management and Head of Asset Allocation at Mackenzie Investments.  Previously he served as vice-president and head of Global Tactical Asset Allocation at CPP Investment Board, Traded derivatives at TD Securities, and taught undergraduate courses at HEC Montreal.  Alain is a recipient of the HEC 2009 Releve d'Excellence award which recognizes leadership excellence under 35.  Alain holds a BBA and M.Sc. both from HEC Montreal.  He holds the Chartered Market Technician and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.  He is on the Rotman Financial Services Advisory Board, the University of Waterloo Master of Quantitative Finance Advisory Board, has served as a committee member with The Toronto Financial Services Alliance and was a founding director of artsScene.

Chris Sheridan, MBA, CFA

Chris Sheridan MBA, CFA is the Vice President in Client Coverage at MSCI Inc, a leading provider of investment management tools. He has over 16 years of experience in capital markets. Prior to joining MSCI, Mr. Sheridan was Senior Vice President, Institutional Sales for a Canadian exchange-traded funds provider. Previously, Mr. Sheridan provided equity sales coverage to institutional money managers for a Canadian bank-owned investment dealer and prior to that, he was an Equity Research Analyst for a boutique investment dealer.

Mr. Sheridan holds a BA in psychology from Western University, an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, York University, and is a CFA charterholder. Mr. Sheridan has been a volunteer at the Society since 2012 and is Past-Chair of the Equity Programming Committee.

Camilla Sutton, MBA, CFA

Board Member at Large

In her most recent role, Camilla Sutton was Scotiabank’s Global Head of Foreign Exchange, responsible for the firm’s FX trading desks, electronic trading and distribution, sales teams, and the global client strategy. In this capacity she had responsibility for 20 global trading desks and 180 front office professionals. Prior to this role, Ms. Sutton was Scotiabank’s Chief FX Strategist. Earlier in her career, she was part of Portfolio Management at OMERS and Equity Research at BMO. Ms. Sutton holds a BA from Dalhousie and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business. In addition, she is a CMT and CFA charterholder. She is an active member of the global investment community, having been a member of several Society and Women in Capital Markets committees. Ms. Sutton is a member of the Bank of Canada's Foreign Exchange Committee.

Sue Lemon, CFA

CEO and Board Member

Sue Lemon, CFA is the Society’s Chief Executive Officer and leads the Society’s strategic direction which includes promoting high ethical standards in the financial industry and increasing the visibility of the charter with key partners in the financial community. An experienced and successful investment executive in fixed income markets Sue formed MSL Advisory Corp in 2008.

Through-out her career Sue has held progressively senior roles at Canada Trust, CT Investment Counsel, Nesbitt Thomson, and CIBC World Markets. Sue led her team at CIBC to a #1 ranking in the Greenwich sales survey. Sue is a Past President of the Society and has been an active volunteer for the past 20 years, notably mentoring young industry professionals. Sue is a cum laude graduate of Ryerson Business Management and earned her charter in 1989.
