CFA Society Toronto Explores the Future State of Finance at the 2017 Annual Investment Dinner

Toronto, 16 November 2017 – Last night over 700 attendees joined us at the 2017 Annual Investment Dinner, CFA Society Toronto’s marquee event of the year. This year’s keynote speakers and featured fireside chat participants included Jason Furman, Professor of Practice & Former Economic Advisor to Barrack Obama, Harvard Kennedy School; Bob Prince, Co-Chief Investment Officer, Bridgewater Associates; Donald Guloien, Past President & Former Chief Executive Officer, Manulife; and moderator for the evening, CBC’s Dianne Buckner.

Keeping with tradition, attendees, members of  the financial industry, answered questions about the markets, economic growth, and their predictions for 2018 using audience response devices.

Economic growth in the United States and Canada over the next decade will be:

3%, no sweat

We can do a bit better than 2%

Stuck at 2%

Below 2%

No idea

Global stock markets are:

Always rational and correctly valued

A real bargain right now – buy!

Overvalued – sell!

No idea

When will the next downturn be?

Within 3 years

Within 5 years

Not for at least a decade
