TORONTO – 7 March 2016 – CFA Society Toronto and CFA Society Ottawa are pleased to announce the winning team of the annual local final of the CFA Institute Research Challenge held in Toronto last week. Congratulations to University of Waterloo for their second consecutive win. Student Team members, Rudder Zhang, Adnan Khan, Kam Dhaliwal, Brent Small, and Daniel Zhang, each received a thousand dollar prize and will be advancing to the regional level of the CFA Instititue Research Challenge in Chicago, Illinois on 12 – 13 April 2016.
“CFA Society Toronto is pleased to congratulate the University of Waterloo on winning the Local level of the 2016 CFA Institute Research Challenge. This is the fourth time the University of Waterloo has won the Local level and we are excited to see them represent Toronto on a global scale in the Americas Regionals taking place in Chicago.” said Sue Lemon, CFA, CEO, CFA Society Toronto.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Students work in teams to research and analyze a publicly traded company, and each team writes a research report on its assigned company with a buy, sell, or hold recommendation. Teams that progress to Local, Regional and Global Finals must present and defend their analysis to a panel of industry professionals. Students learn from experienced industry experts and peers from the world’s top business schools.
“We are very excited to represent the University of Waterloo, CFA Society Toronto and CFA Society Ottawa in this year’s Americas Regional Finals. We are extremely grateful for the support and mentorship provided by our advisors and look forward to preparing for the next stage of the competition.” said Rudder Zhang, University of Waterloo, Team Captain.
