2019 FELLOWSHIP AWARD
Overview
Submit a doctoral dissertation proposal to be judged and you may win a $5,000 (CAD) award. We’re looking for proposals to have the potential to add to the body of knowledge about Canadian debt, equity, or derivatives and other markets, with particular emphasis on regulation, accounting, corporate governance, taxation, applied securities valuation, portfolio management, behavioral finance and performance attribution.
Award
The winner will receive $5,000 CAD and be recognized at the CFA Society Toronto Annual Awards Reception. The winner will also be acknowledged in The Analyst publication and on our social media channels.
Eligibility
- Must be a doctoral candidate at a Canadian university
- Dissertation proposal must be approved by the university but the final dissertation has not been defended
- Work must be in English, unpublished, and cannot currently be accepted for publication
Evaluation Criteria
Consideration will be given to dissertation proposals judged to have potential to add to the body of knowledge about Canadian debt, equity, derivatives, alternative investments and other markets, with particular emphasis on regulation, accounting, corporate governance, taxation, applied securities valuation, portfolio management, behavioral finance, and performance attribution. Those top candidates will be contacted for a phone interview as part of the judging for this award. CFA Society Toronto reserves the right not to grant an award in a given year.

- Dissertation proposal (upload in application form)
- Mail (DO NOT EMAIL) one hard copy of your dissertation proposal to: CFA Society Toronto, Fellowship Award Submission, 120 Adelaide St. W. Ste. 2205, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, M5H 1T1. Your hard copy must arrive at our office on or before the deadline date.
- Finalists will be subject to a telephone interview with judging panel in January 2019.
